About the Role

Our client is a VIC government organisation based in Malvern, VIC. They are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to come in and work with them on a temp contract until 28th August 2026.


Candidates for this role must have:

  • Proven high volume end to end payroll processing experience
  • Experience with Aurion, or Technology One payroll systems
  • Previous local government experience (Highly desirable)
  • High level customer service experience and well developed interpersonal skills

Key responsibilities will include:

  • End-to-End Payroll Processing: Manage and execute the fortnightly payroll for up to 1,060 employees, ensuring full compliance with superannuation, taxation, and accident compensation obligations.
  • Award and Compliance Interpretation: Accurate interpretation and application of Council’s Enterprise Agreement, relevant modern awards, statutory regulations, and internal policies.
  • Technical Advice & Dispute Resolution: Provide high-quality support and accurate advice to resolve complex employee payroll inquiries and service needs effectively.
  • Stakeholder & Customer Relations: Deliver responsive, professional service to both internal and external customers to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within customer service and payroll administration to enhance organizational efficiency.

About You

You will be a highly experienced Payroll professional with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:
